2 arrested in Morgan County in connection with juvenile sex crimes
Morgan County authorities have arrested two men in the past week on grand jury warrants for crimes involving juveniles.
The two cases appear unrelated. According to the sheriff’s office, James Michael Hill, 49, of Falkville, was arrested on a grand jury warrant Jan. 11. He is charged with first degree sexual abuse.
The charges stem from a 2021 report and investigation, authorities said. The case involved a juvenile victim. He was being held on $7,500 bond, but it is unclear if he has bonded out.
Richard Victor Bates, 50, of Eva, has been charged with three counts of first degree sodomy. According to court documents, one count involves a person under the age of 12.
His charges stemmed from a 2022 DHR report.
He was released from the Morgan County Jail on $50,000 bond.
