2 arrested, 1 wounded in connection with Decatur robbery

Decatur police say two people are in custody in connection with a robbery Tuesday in which one person was wounded.

The incident happened at about 12:50 p.m., according to police. Officers responded to a robbery report in the 300 block of Cardinal Drive S.W.

While officers were headed to the scene, Morgan County dispatchers received a report of a man with a gunshot wound, near the 100 block of Austinville Road S.W.

The man was later found and transported to Huntsville Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

At the robbery scene, detectives determined the two events were related. The shooting victim had left the scene with an acquaintance before pulling over near the 100 block of Austinville Road S.W. to seek help.

Shortly before 4 p.m., a vehicle suspected in connection with the robbery, along with two individuals, were located by Huntsville police. After a brief pursuit, Ralph Coleman, 22, of Dothan, and Corey Brooks, 23, of Decatur, were taken into custody and transferred to Decatur police.

Brooks and Coleman were each charged with two counts of first degree robbery and first degree assault. They were booked into the Morgan County Jail and are being held without bond.
