19-year-old charged with attempted murder in Jefferson County road-rage shooting

A Bessemer teen is under arrest after a suspected road-rage shooing in western Jefferson County earlier this week.

Sheriff’s officials on Thursday announced charges against 19-year-old Da’marriya De’vhon Carr.

The incident happened about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Sugar Ray Drive and Bessemer Super Highway.

Lt. Joni Money said the victim told deputies and another driver had been involved in what he thought to be a road rage incident.

During the incident, the driver of the other vehicle pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle and fired shots into his car.

The victim was struck in the hip and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s detectives were able to obtain a description of the offender’s vehicle as well as a license plate number.  The information was distributed to neighboring police agencies.

The Pleasant Grove Police Department located the vehicle their city, detained the occupants and notified Jefferson County detectives.

Carr is charged with attempted murder.

He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Tuesday night and was released earlier today after posting $30,000 bond.
