17-year-old dies days after shooting at Birmingham apartment complex
A teen shot earlier this week in Birmingham has died.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Ty’nez Lloyd Durden. He was 17.
Just before 7 p.m. Monday, Birmingham 911 received a call of a person shot in the 7700 block of Sunrise Lane, said Birmingham police Sgt. Monica Law.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the wounded Durden.
He was taken to Children’s of Alabama where he was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
Law said at the scene the preliminary investigation into the shooting indicated the victim was standing outside the complex when a sedan pulled up and fired multiple shots.
Durden is Birmingham’s 121st homicide this year. Of those, seven have been ruled justifiable and therefore aren’t deemed criminal.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 162 homicides including the 121 in Birmingham.
No arrests have been announced.
