A teen boy died Thursday in a swimming pool accident at an Ashville home.

St. Clair County sheriff’s deputies responded just after 2 p.m. to the home in the Shoal Creek area of Ashville, said Sheriff Billy Murray.

They arrived to find the 17-year-old victim had hit his head while swimming and was unresponsive.

CPR was administered on the scene, and the teen was taken to St. Vincent’s St. Clair where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
