17-year-old charged with murder in fatal shooting on front porch of Birmingham house
A Birmingham teen is behind bars, accused in the fatal shooting of a man in the city’s Inglenook community last month.
The 17-year-old is charged with murder in the May 25 slaying of 23-year-old Deunte Jurrell Winston.
Birmingham police announced the arrest Tuesday.
The teen was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Monday and remains held without bond.
The shooting happened about 9:30 a.m. that Thursday in the 4300 block of 44th Avenue North in Inglenook.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said officers arrived in the neighborhood and found Winston unresponsive on a front porch. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:21 a.m.
Authorities said the two knew each other and the dispute was personal in nature.
