17-year-old charged in Monday-afternoon fatal shooting in Montgomery
A teen is behind bars following a Monday afternoon homicide in Montgomery.
Police and fire medics were dispatched about 2 p.m. to Mulberry Street near Interstate 85 on a report of a person shot, said police Maj. Saba Coleman.
They arrived to find 22-year-old Amaree’ Jackson had sustained a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Jakyeri McCovery, 17, was quickly identified as a suspect, said Coleman. He was taken into custody and is being held without bond in the Montgomery County Detention Center.
Details of the fatal shooting have not yet been released.
