An investigation is underway after a teen girl was shot Saturday in Fairfield.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 3:44 p.m. to the 5000 block of Parkway.

Sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said the 15-year-old girl was taken to Children’s of Alabama. Her condition was not immediately known.

A juvenile suspect has been detained.

Circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been released.
