An investigation is underway after a 15-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound in western Jefferson County.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 6:40 p.m. Monday to a report of a person down in a park at 100 Bayview Drive in Mulga, said Deputy Chief David Agee.

They arrived to find the young teen dead. His name has not yet been released.

Agee said several juveniles have been detained for questioning. Details about the shooting weren’t immediately available.
