A 15-year-old has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his father, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office reports.

According to information released Sunday morning by the MCSO, the Mount Vernon Police Department responded Saturday to a call about a shooting on W. Coy Smith Highway, at an address about midway between Citronelle and Mount Vernon. Police called the sheriff’s office “to continue the investigation.”

The shooting victim, 40-year-old Joseph Frazier Jr, “was found down on the ground outside lying on his back with several shots from a 22 caliber,” according to the MCSO Frazier’s 15-year-old son was detained at the scene.

“The son cooperated with MCSO stating the shooting stemmed from an argument,” said the MCSO report. “The 15-year-old was taken to Strickland Youth Center and charged with Murder.”
