14-year-old shooting suspect a ‘danger to the community’, Mississippi coast judge rules

A 14-year-old Mississippi coast boy charged as an adult in the shooting of another teen is a “danger to the community,” a judge ruled Tuesday in denying bond to the suspect.

Barack Isaiah Robinson of Ocean Springs, Miss., is charged with aggravated assault in a shooting Sunday at a park in the St. Andrews community southeast of Ocean Springs. Jackson County (Miss.) investigators say Robinson shot the 15-year-old victim twice. As of Tuesday afternoon, the victim remained in critical condition at a local hospital, but is expected to survive, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

A third teen, an unidentified 17-year-old, is charged with accessory after the fact through the Jackson County Youth Court. Sheriff John Ledbetter says the 17-year-old drove the getaway car.

Robinson made his initial appearance in Jackson County Court Monday, with Judge Mark Watts denying bond to the teen, saying he presented a “danger to himself and the community,” according to the sheriff’s office.
