13-year-old boy critically injured in shooting at Bessemer home

A young boy is in critical condition after a shooting Tuesday night in Bessemer.

The shooting happened at 6:10 p.m. in the 100 block of 22nd Street South.

Bessemer police Det. Justin Burmeister said officers arrived at the home to find a 13-year-old boy wounded. He was taken to Children’s of Alabama and remains critical.

An adult male was taken into custody and is being held pending formal charges.

Police are expected to release more information later today.
