12-year-old girl wounded in Montgomery shooting dies 1 week later at Birmingham hospital
A young girl wounded in a Montgomery shooting more than a week ago has died.
The shooting happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, in the 4100 block of Keating Drive.
The 12-year-old victim was taken to a Montgomery hospital and later transferred to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham.
Police Maj. Saba Coleman said Monday the girl was pronounced dead on June 7. The child’s name has not been released by police.
No other details have been released, and no arrests have been announced. Coleman said the death is being investigated as a homicide.
