$1,000 reward offered in weekend shooting death of ‘cherished’ Auburn High School senior
A reward is being offered for information in the shooting death of a beloved Auburn High School senior killed just weeks before graduate.
Delvin Tarver, 18, was in a SUV when he was struck by gunfire in the parking lot of the CVS on Baskin Street in Union Springs around 12:43 a.m. Saturday.
Central Alabama Crime Stoppers on Tuesday announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to the identity and arrest of a suspect or suspects in the case.
Union Springs police Lt. Gary Lewis said the shooting happened where Bullock County High School prom attendees were congregating just a mile away from the school’s prom.
Lewis said Tarver did not attend the Bullock County High School prom.
Tarver was taken to Baptist South Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Tarver, described by school officials as a “cherished member” of the school, was set to graduate May 23.
“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the untimely passing of a cherished member of our Auburn High School community,” a statement from the school district read. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and friends during this difficult time.
