Authorities have released the name of a woman killed in a Montgomery weekend shooting that also injured another woman.

Montgomery police on Tuesday identified the homicide victim as Shayla Jones. She was 40.

Police and fire medics were dispatched at 3:45 p.m. Sunday to a report of a person shot in the 900 block of South Union Street.

Jones was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The second woman sustained a non-life-threatening injury. She, too, was hospitalized, said Maj. Saba Coleman.

No additional details have been released.
