One woman was killed, and another injured in a single-vehicle crash in eastern Jefferson County.

The wreck happened just before 12:30 p.m. Friday on Sweeney Hollow Road near Pinson.

Sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said the vehicle left the road and struck multiple trees.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to UAB Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The fatality victim’s name has not yet been released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Traffic Reconstruction Team.
