A shooting in northeast Jefferson County Friday night left one woman dead, and another in custody.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Creek Lane N.E. just before 7:30 p.m.

Lt. Joni Money said the sheriff’s office received a report of a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel performed life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

Money said the shooter – also a female – remained on the scene. She is in custody undergoing questioning.

No additional details surrounding the shooting were immediately available.
