An afternoon shooting in a west Birmingham neighborhood left one person seriously injured.

The shooting happened at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday in the 4700 block of Court R in Ensley.

According to police radio communications, the male victim was shot in the neck. Shot Spotter also indicated gunfire in that area.

The victim was taken to UAB Hospital. Officer Truman Fitzgerald said his injuries are life-threatening.

No additional details have been released and no arrests have been announced.
