1 rescued, 1 missing after boat crash on Pickwick Lake

Emergency responders are searching for a missing boater after a Saturday morning crash in Lauderdale County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says one person has been rescued but another is still missing after a boat struck a bridge piling on Pickwick Lake at approximately 11:20 a.m. Saturday

Authorities say two people were on board the boat when it struck a bridge near the TVA’s Rockpile Boat Ramp, and both occupants were thrown overboard.

Troopers with ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division, ALEA’s Aviation Unit, the Florence Dive Team along with several other agencies are currently responding to assist with the search and rescue effort.

No further information was available as of 1:50 p.m. Saturday, as the search efforts were ongoing.
