1 killed in tornado in north Alabama

Madison County officials say at least one person was killed as a strong line of storms moved through north Alabama early Saturday morning.

Madison County Coroner Dr. Tyler Berryhill said an elderly female was killed when a reported tornado hit her home on Borderline Road. She was pronounced dead on the scene shortly after 4 a.m.

The National Weather Service is tracking dozens of reported tornadoes from a long line of storms that moved across the country on March 31 and April 1, 2023. At least one person was killed in Alabama from these storms.National Weather Service

The massive line of storms that moved across large portions of the country overnight included four reported tornadoes in north Alabama. These reported tornadoes will be investigated and confirmed by the National Weather Service.

The possible tornadoes in Alabama were reported near Hazel Green, Red Bay, Hackleburg and Bear Creek in Madison, Marion and Franklin Counties.
