An early-morning shooting in Montgomery left one man dead.

Montgomery police identified the victim as Fredrikis Heard. He was 26 and lived in Montgomery.

Police and fire medics were dispatched at 12:45 a.m. Thursday to the 4900 block of Hatton Avenue on a report of a person shot, said police Maj. Saba Coleman.

They found Heard wounded and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Coleman said the circumstance surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
