An overnight wreck in northeast Jefferson County left one man dead.

A passerby called 911 at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday to report the crash on Groundhog Road, just past Sealy Ann Mountain Road.

Lt. Joni Money said when deputies arrived, they found a Chevy Silverado had left the road and hit multiple trees. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

Money said the fatality victim has not yet been positively identified.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash.
