A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 in north Jefferson County left one person dead.

The crash happened at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday on I-65 southbound near Mount Olive Road. Witnesses reported a vehicle under a tractor-trailer.

Alabama State Troopers had to shut down two southbound lanes for several hours but reported all lanes were open by 10:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
