A Talladega man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Riley F. Welch. He was 72.

The wreck happened at 5:45 p.m. on Alabama 21 near Bullocks Ferry Road, about five miles south of Talladega.

Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey said Welch was driving a GMC Sierra that struck a Ford Windstar.

Welch was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, Bailey said. He was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Windstar, 65-year-old John B. Rogers, also of Talladega, was taken to Citizens Baptist Medical Center. The extent of his injuries wasn’t immediately known.
