One person was killed, and another injured in a head-on crash in Blount County.

Alabama State Troopers on Saturday identified the fatality victim as Gregory S. Cantrell. He was 64 and lived in Cleveland.

The wreck happened at 3:20 p.m. Friday on Alabama 160, about eight miles southwest of Hayden.

Senior Trooper Cody Farrar said Cantrell was driving a Toyota Avalon that collided head on with a Toyota Highlander driven by 65-year-old Annette W. Lake of Warrior.

Cantrell was pronounced dead on the scene.

Lake was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. The extent of her injuries was not released.

The crash remains under investigation by troopers.
