One person was killed in a crash Friday on Interstate 459 in Hoover.

The crash happened at 10:09 a.m. on I-459 between Highway 31 and John Hawkins Parkway.

Lt. Daniel Lowe said at least two vehicles were involved the wreck. One of the vehicles left the roadway and struck a tree.

The fatality victim was pronounced on the scene. A second person was taken to a hospital.

Hoover police traffic investigators are on the scene and are working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Motorists traveling on I-459 should expect heavy and lengthy delays while the investigation remains ongoing.
