Authorities are on the scene of shooting on Interstate 65 in Homewood.

Homewood Sgt. John Carr said a shooting took place at 7:43 p.m. on I-65 southbound near Oxmoor Road.

Carr said it appears that a suspect fired multiple rounds into the male victim’s vehicle, striking the victim multiple times. The victim’s vehicle then crashed into another vehicle.

The motorist in the vehicle struck by the victim was shaken up but not injured.

“This appears to be a targeted attack,’’ Carr said of the shooting.

The victim was transported to UAB with life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made.

Birmingham police are assisting with traffic. The southbound lanes were closed.
