1 in custody after 2 found badly injured in stabbing in North Alabama
A Rainsville man is in jail on two charges of first degree domestic violence after authorities say he stabbed two people this weekend.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and Rainsville police responded to an incident Sunday on Dawson Avenue in the Shiloh community, according to Sheriff Nick Welden.
Welden said in a news release that as the initial deputy neared the residence, he encountered a man on foot, apparently fleeing from the location, and detained him.
Inside, officers found two people, whose names were not released, suffering from life-threatening stabbing injuries. There was no word on their condition Monday.
Ballard “B.B.” Eugene Pennington, Jr., 52, of Rainsville, was arrested and is being held without bond. Welden said more changes may be forthcoming.
Welden thanked all first responders for quick action with the victims.
“We are focused on protecting the citizens of this county, especially the ones who cannot protect themselves,” Welden said.
