1 fatally shot by police during traffic stop near Tuscaloosa park
An officer-involved shooting near a Tuscaloosa park left one person dead.
The shooting happened midday Wednesday near Bowers Park, which is located on James I Harrison Jr. Parkway.
Tuscaloosa police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor said two officers initiated a traffic stop at 12:05 p.m. as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
The driver pulled over on James I. Harrison Parkway near Hargrove Road.
Shots were fired during the interaction, resulting in the death of a passenger.
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit are conducting the investigation.
