1 dead following Tuesday afternoon Huntsville crash
A man died Tuesday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash outside Huntsville.
Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the incident happened at about 3:15 p.m. on U.S. 43 near Dug Hill Road about one mile south of Huntsville.
A 2010 Lincoln Navigator, driven by Michael P. Whitt, 45, of Gurley, struck a 2018 Nissan Sentra, driven by Jimmy M. Scott, 36, of Owens Cross Roads. After the initial impact, the Lincoln struck a 2019 Ford F-350, driven by Matthew L. Hickman, 19, of Huntsville.
Whitt was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, Bailey said, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Hickman was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
