1 dead, 1 jailed following shooting in Tuscaloosa County
One man is dead, and another is behind bars after a shooting in Tuscaloosa County.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday to reports of a shooting on Timbertop Lane in the Fosters community.
A deputy who is also a licensed paramedic was first on the scene and tried unsuccessfully to save the victim.
Jaylin Reed, 22, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit worked throughout the day investigating the case. On Tuesday night, authorities announced a murder charge against 20-year-old Tywann Long.
Long was being booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail late Tuesday.
Capt. Jack Kenned said the motive is still under investigation but said the sale and/or possession of illegal drugs appears to be a factor.
