One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Thursday evening in Brookside.

Police Chief Henry Irby said officers were dispatched just before 6 p.m. to the public housing community on Village Circle on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found two adult males had sustained wounds. One of them was pronounced dead on the scene, and the other was taken to an area hospital.

Irby said the shooting appears to be domestic-related. “This was an isolated incident and there’s no further threat to the community,’’ he said.

The suspect remains at large.

The deadly shooting is Brookside’s first homicide in recent memory.

“No community is immune from crime now, ‘’ Irby said.
