One person was killed and another critically injured in a collision on Warrior Jasper Road.

The investigation is in its early stages, but Bagley firefighters and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene about 3:30 p.m. on reports of victims trapped in the wreckage.

They arrived to find one car in the middle of the road. The vehicle’s front end was engulfed in flames with the driver still inside.

That driver was pronounced dead on the scene, still inside the vehicle

The second car was in a ditch on the side of the road. That driver was transported via helicopter to the hospital.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Traffic Reconstruction Team were still arriving at the crash site shortly before 5 p.m.
